Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Policy outlines the types of information that Boat Rocker Media (“we” or “us”) will collect from you through its Orphan Black: The Game (“Game”), and how it will be used and when it may be disclosed to third parties. Your installation and/or use of the Game constitute your consent to this Privacy Policy and the processing of your information as described in this Policy. This Privacy Policy is effective as of March 1, 2017.

What information do we collect?

We do not collect information personal information, namely information that identifies you. For example, there is no registration to play the Game, and we do not know your name or contact information. However, we may receive other information regarding how you access and use the Game, for example, a gaming service ID, game achievements, game scores and performance, IP address, unique device identifiers, or other information and statistics regarding your mobile device, internet access, and use of the Game. Such information may be collected while you are offline and transmitted to us when you next connect to the Internet whether or not you are currently logged into your internet connection from your handheld, mobile device, computer, or other gaming platform.

We receive information about you from third party marketplace providers, such as the iTunes’ App Store or the Google Play Store. This information includes your username and/or device ID and the fact that you made a purchase, for instance. But this information does not include any sensitive or financial information.

Our mobile products also may request additional personal information from you, such as push notification tokens, your precise location or contact list, and we will collect this information only if you give us your explicit consent.

We may receive information from third parties, like Facebook, Google or Instagram, when you use these services in connection with our products. We may also receive information about you when other players choose to share their contact lists with us.

How do we collect information?

We and third parties also use certain technologies described below to collect information to deliver the Game and improve gameplay experiences.

Analytics Technologies

We may use certain analytics technologies (tiny files that are stored on your device when you use the Game to identify your device and may store information about you such as your gameplay, behavioral data, and the operation and performance of the Game).

How do we use information?

Information may be used by us for administrative, analytical, research, optimization, security and other purposes. We may use information to track your use of the Game to help us learn more about gaming activities and understand your preferences and tendencies; compile statistics; respond to customer service inquiries; protect against cheating, crime or fraud, or for other security reasons. We may also use information to:

Operate, improve, and develop our games and services;
Provide you with support;
Measure the health of our services;
Provide game experiences that you may like;
Facilitate your gameplay on multiple devices when available;
Identify, fix, and troubleshoot bugs and service errors;
Provide software updates;
Save game progress and stats;
Adhere to your preferences and to deliver dynamic content; and
Help keep our services safe and fair, resolve disputes, investigate and help curb fraud and illegal behavior, comply with the law, and to enforce our agreements and policies.

We do not sell or rent any information collected through the Game.

Disclosure of the information we collected

Information in anonymous form may be shared with third parties who assist us with operations such as administration, analytics, research, optimization, and advertising. For example, we may share the information, such as unique device identifiers or other persistent identifiers and non-precise geolocation information with our analytics providers. Those providers use this information to perform analytics - please note that this sharing is limited to anonymous information only and we do not collect or share any of your personal information.

We do not store credit card information. In order to process credit card payments, we use the services of a secure third-party credit card processor.

Partnerships and external sources

The Game may link to external sites beyond our control. The Privacy Policy covers only the way we treat information we collect in the Game. By accessing any external sites, you agree to the privacy policies of those sites. The external sites may have different policies with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information and information. We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties. Therefore, you are encouraged to review the privacy policies of all third-party websites. Without limiting anything in the following section, we are not liable in any way for the actions, inactions or policies of any external services.

Other terms for third-party providers and platforms

You may be able to sign up for or access the Game through third-party platforms such as gaming consoles, mobile devices, other websites and social networking services. If you submit personal information to us via a third-party platform, your use of that platform is governed by its terms of service, privacy policies and/or code of conduct. Please review each company's governing policies before using their services.

The Game employs Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google. Google that uses data collected to track and examine the use of the Game, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. Data collected includes cookies and information. Find Google's privacy policy here.

The Game also uses Fabric Engine, a digital content creation platform that conducts crash analytics, and Unity, a cross-platform game engine that conducts crash analytics and checks the integrity of the Game. Find Fabric Engine Inc.’s privacy policy here and Unity’s privacy policy here.

Other terms and governing law

Use of our services and products may be subject to other terms, conditions and disclosures prescribed by us, device manufacturers, online service providers, or other intermediaries, including: (i) other terms and disclosures which are made available to you by us; and (ii) the terms, conditions, and disclosures made available to you by third parties in connection with the use of their devices and/or online services. All such terms, conditions and disclosures are incorporated by reference into this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy is governed by Ontario law.
